Falling Leaves

Fall is such a beautiful time of year.  The colours are amazing and inspiring.
This morning, the challenge at Splitcoast is to create a card that features Fall colours.  Here is what I came up with.

I began by applying some Gesso randomly over a Tim Holtz stencil.  So sorry it is hard to see in the photo but it gave a lovely, textural look to my background.  While that dried, I inked up my leaf stamp from Penny Black with Distress inks, sprayed with water and stamped.  I then die-cut them with the matching die.
I stamped the sentiment with Memento black ink, embossed it with clear and added the leaves with pop dots so they looked like they were cascading down from the trees.

Nature's Gifts

Hello.  So happy you were able to come and take a look at what I created today.
Playing along with a challenge at Splitcoast this morning and some of my new stamps from Penny Black.  Happy to have another card for Christmas done.

I began by pulling out the Nature's Gifts set and my MISTI.  I inked the branches using Peeled Paint Distress ink, sprayed with water and stamped.  After the first stamping, I coloured just areas of the branches with a dark green Memento marker and stamped again.  It gave such a nice extra dimension to the first stamping.  I did the berries the same way but this time, just coloured them with markers.
I wanted the card to have a 'snowy' feel, so I splattered white acrylic paint over the stamped areas.
The sentiment was stamped with black Memento ink, cut out and then I rubbed the edges using some more Peeled Paint Distress ink.

Bokeh Christmas

Morning.
Working on another Christmas card this morning.
This one has a fun and easy bokeh looking background.  If you own Copic markers, I hope you get the chance to try out this easy technique.

I began by using a circle stencil that I made from a piece of heavy acetate.  I lightly drew the circles in with a pencil, then went back in and colored the circles using red and green Copic markers.  I then dripped Blending Solution over the inked circles to create the 'bokeh' effect.
When that was all dry, I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink and then white heat embossed.
I then splattered white paint over the top and mounted the piece on some red and green cardstock.

Oh Boy!

Happy Saturday!
I love Saturdays and being inspired by the IC Challenge at Splitcoast.  This morning the inspiration comes from an Etsy site called Bohemian Findings.  The store is filled with sweet little charms.
I needed a baby card and saw this cute little charm:

I felt like doing some watercoloring, so I began making my card front by painting bands of blue using my watercolor paints.  I tried to blend the bands together using water then when dry, cut the panel into 2 pieces.  I mounted the panels on my card front then stamped the sentiment with black Memento ink.
This adorable baby image is a digi from Melonheadz.  I printed it off onto heavy weight cs then coloured it with Copics and fussy cut it out.  I then mounted it over the blue panel using pop dots.

I am adding my card to these challenges:

(I love brights; it immediately draws you eye in and gets your
attention.  Blue is also my fav colour and I find it the easiest
colour to work with when making cards)

Life Collage

Morning.
Just me playing with some new stamps and I make a collage card.
I like the look of monochromatic cards and used some Memento grey ink to create that look.

I began by stamping the tape measure background from the Darkroom Door.  I think I will have fun with that stamp especially for creating the look of collage cards.  Then, I stamped the flowers from Magenta to the side using my MISTI.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in black but the card needed something more, so I scored a border around the outside edge to finish it off.  Much better.

Checkin' it Twice

Happy Saturday.
Brrr...it feels chilly and cold here this morning and I am in Christmas card making mod.
This morning I am being inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast from the Illustrations Pinterest Board.  Great images to be inspired by!

I began stencilling the bkg. using Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn Distress inks.  Love those inks to stencil with as they just blend so well together.  I cut the piece into panels and rounded the corners so I could use them for a more interesting background.
This cute little Santa is a digi that I printed and coloured using Copic markers.  I added him to my card front using some pop dots.
Note:  He was created by the most talented Birdie Brown and is no longer available as a
digi.  You can buy a set from MFT that includes one like this.
Lastly, I stamped the sentiment that is from a set by Penny Black.

Exciting Marbling

It's Saturday of our long Thanksgiving Weekend here in Canada.
I am feeling very thankful and I needed to play.

I am so excited to share my card with you as I tried out a 'new to me' technique called Alcohol Ink Floating for my background.  So fun and so easy and I just used my regular heavy weight cardstock to do it.  My friend Loll Thompson sparkled my curiosity when I read her blog.
Here is the link to the Alcohol Ink Floating video.

My inspiration began today when I saw the challenge at Splitcoast and this beautiful photo from a Pinterest board:

If you watch the video, you will see exactly what I did using Ranger Alcohol inks.
The hardest part is being patient while waiting for it to dry.  I let it dry a bit then I like to press it in a book so it will dry flat.  I found this technique so exciting because you never know what you will get after you remove your paper from the water bath.

So, when it was all dry, I grabbed my MISTI and stamped the flowers from Magenta and the sentiment from My Favorite Things using black Memento ink.  It needed something more, so I stamped the script from Penny Black, randomly in the background using Grey Memento ink.  I was much happier with the illusion of depth it added.  Lastly, I inked the edges with Versamark and embossed with white.

Bloom On

Morning.
As the garden winds down for the coming of Fall, I have the beautiful colours of the leaves in my head.
I decided to use those colours and the Trumpet Song stamp from Penny Black to create today's card.  I love this stamp and find if so easy to make a quick and simple card using it.

I began by placing the stamp inside my MISTI.  I coloured the flowers using my Memento markers in a light orange, sprayed with water and pressed onto my paper.  I repeated that process using a darker shade of colours until the flowers looked wonderfully blended.
I stamped the sentiment for the Penny Black set called Gratitude using Memento black ink but felt the card needed more so I drew in a black-line border to pull it all together...much better.

Graphics with a Heart

Happy World Cardmaking Day!

This morning I am being inspired by the challenge at Splitcoast and a Pinterest board called 'Hearts'.  I liked this pin of a sweet heart gem:

I began by stamping the sentiment from STAMPlorations and cut a mask to cover it.  Next, I stenciled using the Circle Tile stencil from Stencil Girl using Distress inks.  To add depth and interest, I splattered water over the background while leaving the stencil in place.  Since Distress inks are water based, some of the colour is removed leaving an interesting pattern behind.
I removed the mask and added the heart gem.

A very clean and simple card.
